The 2026 municipal election is an opportunity to learn more about the priorities and perspectives of the people seeking to serve our communities.
As part of the Food Action Network’s non-partisan election awareness work, we invited candidates for mayor or reeve in seven local municipalities in the Thunder Bay area to respond to the same three questions about local food systems and the issues that affect people, communities and our region.
FAN-NWO does not endorse or oppose any candidate. Candidate responses are presented verbatim, as received, and have not been edited by FAN-NWO.

About the Initiative
FAN-NWO invited candidates for mayor or reeve in the seven local municipalities in the Thunder Bay area that are holding municipal elections in 2026 to respond to the same three questions, using the same response format and deadline.
Candidates were contacted in late August 2026 and given until September 14, 2026 to respond. One reminder was sent during the response period. Candidate responses are published as received. Where no response was received, this is noted on the relevant community page.
This initiative is intended to support public awareness and access to information about candidates’ perspectives on local food systems ahead of the October 26, 2026 municipal election.
