Evalisa is the owner/operator Root Cellar Gardens, an off-grid market garden in South Gillies, Ontario dedicated to producing organic storage vegetables and regionally adapted seeds. Evalisa is a member of Superior Seed Producers and has led innovative projects such as breeding a short-season watermelon for our region. She holds a Master’s degree from Lakehead University, where her research explored the connections between landrace seed breeding and an eco-social approach to health.

Through her work, Evalisa is committed to strengthening local food systems and seed sovereignty across Northwestern Ontario.
